Because getting the original engine to 400hp would mean stuffing 3 or 4 of them under the hood.

The only thing I don’t like about the build is that he lied to the previous owner about his intentions for the car. The PO wished for it to stay period correct, but Jason knew that wasn’t going to happen. Granted, the car was sold and is no longer PO’s concern, but that’s still a bit of a shitty thing to do to another car guy.

Pretty sure this guy follows me on Instagram. It’s certainly a unique car, and I think I like it.

true. I’m curious what he did to the rest of the drivetrain to get it to handle all that power.

He may have done nothing, and could just be waiting for the transmission to eat itself.

“I want an old car but I want it to sound, drive handle, stop and work like a new car. Also I want to put new components all throughout it.”

You want a new car. That thing you just described. Cletus the purist is not pleased with this build.

Some people want the analog driving experience of an old car without all the “stranded on the side of the road” and “slower than grandma’s Oldsmobile” and “iffy brakes.” Although IDK about wanting it to sound like a new car...

At first glance. I like it. The looks, with an opportunity for reliable power...seems like a win.

I say tough beans to those people. You want to look cool and sound cool? Gotta suffer a little bit. People want it all for nothing, old cars require sacrifice.

I actually don’t mind most of this car, because I like Giulias and their descendants, and I don’t mind a well-done restomod as long as it’s not hacking up a particularly unique or valuable classic. But, I could do without the hipster oil cooler hoses, wonky-ass alignment, and seats. And I hate the filter on the photo.

Oh, I know. And my car isn’t even that old yet. My hat is off to people riding 40+ year old steel around with original equipment. I appreciate the stock classics more, but I’d rather drive the restomods.

For the same reason someone would put a Ford V8 into an AC Cobra.

when the sight of stanced miatas, STIs and BMWs no longer shock us. they come for the classics. the cars that mean something to us.

I didn’t know the background story about the purchase.

Lesson learned. Never assume anything will stay the same after someone else purchases it.
